Due to the growing demand for gaming workshops and training sessions, Kevin Descheemaeker of Accessible Gaming offers a series of accessible sessions on gaming and everything that goes along with it.
Whether you’re a parent who wants to understand what your child is doing, a care provider looking for ways to incorporate gaming into your practice, or an organization seeking to expand your general knowledge of gaming, there’s something for everyone.
Each session is designed to be practical, free of jargon, and focused on accessibility, user-friendliness, and fun.
General Gaming Knowledge – an introduction to gaming
For organizations, healthcare institutions, and educational settings
How does a controller actually work? What’s the difference between a PlayStation and a Nintendo Switch? And what do terms like “First Person,” “Third Person,” or “PEGI 16” mean?
This training course is structured into 5 modules, in which we explore the world of gaming step by step. From genres and platforms to digital purchases and age restrictions—everything is covered.
After this workshop, you’ll not only have more knowledge but also the tools to put it into practice with your clients, patients, or target audience.
The sessions can also be offered on a modular or customized basis.
Help! My child wants to play games!
For (grand)parents and caretakers
Many parents see their children become absorbed in games, but do not always understand what happens behind that screen.
In this workshop, we help you better understand what your child is doing. No technical jargon, but a clear explanation in plain language. You will learn, among other things:
Are games violent?
What do those PEGI ages mean?
What is the role of difficulty levels?
How do you navigate through a game menu?
- …
You don’t have to be a gamer to attend this session – quite the opposite! This workshop will make you feel confident as a parent or caregiver, and perhaps even encourage you to play along with your child.
Workshop: Accessible Gaming
For healthcare providers, caregivers, and professionals
Gaming is for everyone – including people with disabilities. But how do you get started? What tools are available? And how do you make gaming accessible within your organization or operation?
In this practical workshop, you will receive an overview of:
Assistive devices and adapted controllers
Accessible gaming options on various platforms
What is feasible for your target audience?
How do you organize a gaming session yourself?
You will receive practical tips and concrete examples, and together we will explore how accessible gaming can add value to your operations.
This session is ideal for residential care centers, day centers, care institutions, or associations working with people with disabilities.
Accessible Gaming Afternoon
For people with impairments – a fun introduction to gaming
During our accessible gaming afternoons, participants are introduced to gaming in a relaxed way. We bring adapted game consoles, adapted controllers, and a selection of fun and accessible games.
Our experience shows that such an afternoon is often more than just a fun activity – it is also a moment of connection, discovery, and enjoyment. Guidance is available to help everyone at their own pace and according to their own abilities.
We are happy to visit your organization or event and set everything up. Recently, we were guests at a large day center, where vans full of participants from various organizations stopped by for a unique introduction to the equipment.
This gaming afternoon is ideal for day centers, residential facilities, schools, or inclusive events.
