PlayStation 5 – De toegankelijkheidsinstellingen

A comprehensive overview of the accessibility settings

The PlayStation 5 offers a wide range of accessibility options that make gaming more enjoyable and feasible for everyone — whether you experience visual, auditory, motor, or cognitive challenges, or simply want to personalize your gaming experience.

In this special, we take you into a deep dive through the PS5’s accessibility menu. We explain what each setting does, what it is intended for, and how you can activate them yourself. Everything is supplemented with clear screenshots so that players as well as parents, guardians, or caregivers can get started.

Zoom

Enlarge things on the screen.

With this feature, you can zoom in on what is happening on the screen. Handy if you have trouble with small text or details. You activate it with a combination of buttons, and then you can look around freely on a magnified image.

Press the PS button and the square button (PS + ◻️).
➤ You are now seeing an enlarged version of the screen.

  • Zoom in and out:
Press again PS + ◻️ to switch between different zoom levels.

  • Move display area:
Use the right joystick (R) to move over the enlarged image.

  • Confirm zoom adjustment:
Press the X button to retain the current zoom level.

  • Reset Zoom:
Press the O-button to return to the original view.

Reverse colors

This option inverts the colors (such as white becoming black and black becoming white). This can increase contrast for those who are sensitive to bright light or have difficulty with traditional color schemes.

Color correction

For people with color blindness. This adjusts the use of color on the screen so that certain colors are easier to distinguish from each other.

The color correction settings are designed for players who have difficulty distinguishing certain colors. Think of forms of color blindness such as red-green blindness or blue-yellow blindness.

Enable color filter

When you activate this, you can choose a specific color filter that adjusts the screen so that colors are easier to distinguish from each other.

Available options (after enabling)

After activation, you can usually choose between various filters, such as:

  • Red-green filter (for deuteranopia)

  • Blue-yellow filter (for tritanopia)

  • Shades of gray (for complete loss of color or visual rest)

You can also the intensity of the filter Adjust with a slider, depending on what is most comfortable for your vision.

The colorful test images on the left and right of the screen help you visually assess the effect and adjust it to your needs.

This feature can make a huge difference in readability and orientation within games and menus, especially in colorful environments where contrast is important.

Text size

Gives you the option to adjust the size of text on the screen. There are three settings: small, standard, large, and very large. This helps with poor eyesight or reading difficulties.

Bold text

Makes all text on the PS5 bold. This ensures better readability and clearer letters on the screen.

High contrast

Adjusts the colors of the system menu to increase the contrast between text and background. This makes everything more sharp, especially for people with impaired vision.

Show check mark for enabled settings

Show a visual check mark next to active settings. This way, you can easily see what you have already adjusted.

Auto-scrolling speed

This determines how fast lists and text scroll automatically. You can slow this down or speed it up, depending on your needs; there are 4 speeds: Very slow, Slow, Standard & Fast.
